2019 Round 1 - Walter Mangold Language Scholarships

Walter Mangold Language Scholarships for 2019 Round 1 are relevant to tertiary students applying through their home university for an overseas exchange or study abroad placement to study languages that will commence between 1 January 2019 and 30 June 2019.

The online Application portal will OPEN (here) on Monday 13 August 2018

Please note the closing date, 5.00pm ( AEDT) Friday 26 October 2018.

About the Application registration process

To enter the Application portal you will first need to complete a short eligibility quiz and register your details with a password.

The online application document will ask you to:

  1. provide details about your home university language courses, with subject codes
  2. provide details about your preferred destination university and proposed course selection.
  3. give considered answers explaining: why you want to study abroad or on exchange; what you find interesting in the particular language and culture; and what benefits you hope to gain from the experience of studying the language and culture at the proposed destination?
  4. complete a budget template of your estimated travel costs and living expenses.
  5. arrange for a Letter of Endorsement from a current lecturer or tutor attesting to your language capability; your potential to benefit from an exchange or study abroad program and the suitability of your proposed study program overseas.
  6. nominate 2 other people as personal Referees who (if you are shortlisted) will be contacted and asked about your character and interests.

The closing date for 2019 semester 1 Applications is Friday 26 October 2018.

Letter of Endorsement

Applicants who wish to organise the required academic Letter of Endorsement (LoE) may download the proforma information with the topic headings and forward it to their lecturer or tutor. The Letter of Endorsement can be emailed directly by the lecturer, or uploaded with the online application before the (revised) closing date, Friday 30 March 2018.
